There is currently one major mission trip planned for 2009. We will be holding other support activities prior to that time to assist in the team's fundraising efforts.

Highlights

• Uganda 2009
  
  Dates: July 31-August 16, 2009
  Event Description
  Our mission team comprised of three separate groups (a medical team, a construction team, and a children's ministry team) will travel to Uganda for seventeen days. Planned projects include:
     Low Vision Screening
     Distribution of 800 pairs of eyeglasses which are being donated by the Lions Club
     Diabetic screening
     Nutritional teaching
     Installation of a projector, screen, and speakers in the children's academy
     Construction of solar food dehydrators
     Various smaller construction/maintenance projects on the school facility
     A multiple-day, multi-media Children's Program
   
• Luganda Language Classes
  
  Bi-Weekly Classes Begin: Thursday, March 19, 2009
  Time: 6:30pm-7:30pm
  Location: Roanoke College, (Classroom TBA)
  Cost: $10-$15/person per night to be determined by the number of students in the class. (1-5 Students = $15 each per class; 6+ Students = $10 each per class.)
  Event Description
  Learn to Speak the Luganda Language before heading to Africa. This language class is being taught by Professor Joshua Rubongoya of Roanoke College, a native of Uganda and a Life Link Alumnus. Along with learning the language, students will also be introduced to the history, culture, and customs of Uganda. Classes are open to all, regardless of trip participation.

• Donut Sale

  Location: Downtown Roanoke, Lynchburg, and anywhere you are!
  All missionaries are encouraged to participate in this tasty fundraiser! We will be placing our order on Wednesday March 18, 2009 so contact us with the number of boxes you'd like.
• Easter Breakfast
  Date: April 12, 2009
  Location: Valley Word Church, located at 1928 Loch Haven Drive, Roanoke, VA.
  Breakfast will be served immediately following their Easter Sunrise Service.
• Yard Sale
  Date: May 2, 2009
  Location: Valley Word Church, 1928 Loch Haven Drive, Roanoke, VA. Located off of I-81 exit 141. Turn West onto Electric Road off of ramp and then North onto Loch Haven Drive. Valley Word Church is 1/2 mile down on the left hand side, next door to Hanging Rock Animal Hospital. Donations of saleable items in good condition are welcome. Please contact one of the mission team leaders to make arrangements for drop off or for further details on this fundraiser.
